1960 Series II 88 SWB

This 1960 Land Rover Series II 88 SWB received a ground-up restoration for a local surgeon. Marc completed the work in his garage at home.

The Rover had been discovered in northern Minnesota in decidedly neglected condition — a tree was actually growing inside it. Despite that, the frame and firewall were in excellent condition. The rear crossmember needed replacement because of damage, and a different rear tub was sourced for the restoration.

The replacement tub carried a few dents, but Marc preferred preserving a little honest character rather than hiding it beneath body filler. As he put it at the time: “A few small dents are better than Bondo.”

From an abandoned Rover with a tree growing through it to a ground-up restoration completed in a home garage, this Series II remains a memorable part of Singing Camel’s early project archive.
